The race stays mostly on Dutch soil today for a difficult stage with a profile similar to that of the Amstel Gold Race. The start is in Roermond and the finish, 204 kilometres later, in Sittard. En route 18 climbs with the ascend of the Cauberg in Valkenburg twice. It will be nervous day with the many twists and turns. After leaving Roermond it goes southwards to Geleen, Meerssen and Valkenburg. Continuing south to Epen and along the Belgium border east to Vaals. Returning to Valkenburg, for the 2nd climb of the Cauberg, via Eys, Margraten and Sibbe. Sittard is 30 kilometres away and once there the riders still need to do a local lap (20,2 kilometres), which includes a small detour into Germany for the ascend of the Bergstrasse. Expect a decimated group or breakaway for the win, just as in Ronse. Current GC: 1 Martin, 2 Moerenhout 10″, 3 Boasson Hagen 1’24″, 4 Tuft 1’26″, 5 Boom 1’32″. We are live on Twitter at 14:45 CET and livestreams will be up too.
