Vuelta a España (stage 3)

Marbella – Málaga today. There are 2 rated climbs in this 157,3 kilometers long stage: Puerto de Ojén (570 metres at km 8,7 – cat. 2) and the Puerto del León (920 metres at km 120,4 – cat. 1). Leaving Marbella heading inland, it immediately ascends. After the descend of the Ojén, it starts going up again towards Alozaina. With 54,5 kilometers to go, the riders cross the finish line for the first time to start a local circuit with the ascend of the 15,8 kilometers long Léon. At the summit, 36,9 kilometres remain to Málaga including some height differences as well. The last 1,5 kilometre to the finish at the castle of Gibralfaro goes up at an average slope of 5%, making it a hard finish. Normally it will not be a bunch sprint today. Current GC: 1.
